It is that time of year again. The festive, joyous time of the holidays. I truly do love the holidays and what it means to our family. Yuletide is a week long event for us, we celebrate the Solstice and we also celebrate Christmas. The Holidays have always been special to me and I hope to pass this sentiment on to the Pickle.

Homeschooling for this month has been spent crafting up a storm, reading all we can about the Holidays and singing away while I play the keyboard for us. We have been sledding and skating and walking by the river, watching how nature is effected by the narrowing of the light. We have felted lovely ornaments for our tree, made an amazing Yuletide Advent Calender, sculpted awesome clay pieces for gifts, cooked and baked up yummy goodies to give to our loved ones. We have been so busy capturing the purity of this time and this has had a marked effect of healing for our family.

Its been a long and winding road this year for our family and this Yuletide marks the first year without my Mom. We feel her all around us sharing in the moments of the Holidays, just very differently. One step in front of the other and we move closer to balance again.

This is an old picture, I know I shared it with you all last year at this time. But I love how it captures the light just peaking through the chinook cloud, early afternoon in mid December.
Happy Holidays everyone, see you in the New Year.
